Enydia Haynes is the 2023 and 2024 NAACP NJ State Conference Gold Medal winner for ACT-SO. She is an 18-year-old homeschooled graduating senior with a deep passion for dancing and the performing arts. As a heavily awarded dancer and company member of Eastside Dance Project, she integrates her love for dance into every aspect of her life. Enydia has danced under the direction of Freddie Moore (Alvin Ailey), internationally as a company member of United We Dance, and under the direction of the incomparable Mrs. Debbie Allen (Debbie Allen Dance Academy) - where she was chosen by Mrs. Allen for a select piece performed at the Disney Constitution Hall honoring Motown legend Marvin Gaye. Beyond her performances, Enydia contributes significantly to her community as the Social Media Chair for her local NAACP branch. Combining her artistic talents with her volunteer efforts, she inspires others through her dedication to the arts and her commitment to making a positive impact - dancing and teaching dance at various local events for the NAACP and local towns/organizations. Enydia is set to attend Middlesex College to pursue a health-related degree, with plans to transfer to New Jersey Medical School to become a radiologist, demonstrating her multifaceted ambitions and drive for excellence while continuing her dance education and performances.

The Governor’s Awards in Arts Education began in 1980 to promote awareness and appreciation of the arts, recognizing the creativity, talent and leadership of the award winners. Each year, awards are presented to approximately 20 educators and 80 students. National and statewide organizations select the students for their exemplary work in creative writing, speech, dance, music, theatre and visual arts and the leaders for their exceptional commitment and contribution to arts education. The program also recognizes arts educators and arts education advocates, whose leadership has helped nurture the development of students in the arts across the state.
